If you have any leftover or extra portions from your Quorn recipes, you can easily freeze them. They’re great if you’re running late and need a quick meal on the go. As long as all the other ingredients are suitable for freezing and reheating, you can store the dish in the freezer for up to one month. Always make sure the ingredients are cold before freezing. It’s a good idea to take them out of the freezer the night before, defrost them fully in the refrigerator, then cook them within 24 hours, making sure they’re piping hot before serving.
Tasty leftovers from your Quorn recipes can easily be used for the next day’s lunch or dinner.
There are just a few things you need to remember. Once any leftovers are cooked, cool quickly, cover and keep in the fridge. Use within 48 hours and make sure when reheating that all the food is piping hot before serving. Remember, don’t reheat more than once.
How long should I cook Quorn ingredients to get the best texture?
Quorn products are easy to use. Here are some hints and tips to help you get the best out of your Quorn meals:
- Quorn products can be cooked using an oven, grill, hob, microwave or barbecue. They’re delicious, tasty and easy to prepare in no time at all. What’s not to love? Quorn Mince, Quorn Fillets and Quorn Pieces can be cooked from frozen, so there’s no need to defrost. This means you can create the perfect chilli or curry in 20 minutes.
- Quorn products don’t shrink when they’re cooked, so bear this in mind when you are adding Quorn Mince, Fillets or Pieces to your recipes.
- As with all foods, make sure your Quorn ingredients are piping hot before eating but be careful not to overcook them. Remember, Quorn products don’t change colour or texture in the same way other proteins do, so pay careful attention to timings during cooking.
When you use Quorn products in homemade recipes like cottage pie, Bolognese, curry and chilli, they are perfectly safe to re-heat if they’ve been kept nice and cool in the fridge and are eaten within 48 hours. If you can resist them for that long!
